MeWe - The Best Decision We Didn’t Know We Needed

 

It all started one afternoon while searching for a safer way to navigate the internet. I felt like the major social media platforms were taking more from me than they were giving. Endless ads, countless notifications, toxic comments, and unchecked posts had become overwhelming.

I was searching for a small “nest,” a world of my own where I could create a safe and warm space. A place where I could truly be myself, choose the people I connect with, and build something new and meaningful. That’s when I discovered MeWe.

As I explored the platform, I realized that its simplicity offered the functionality I needed. It gave me the freedom to create a profile that reflected who I truly am and to present myself to the online world in an authentic way.

It didn’t take long for MeWe to win me over. The dedication of the people behind the platform and their thoughtful approach to its evolution confirmed my initial impression. Here, I could feel safe and operate as my true self—just like a healthy relationship after leaving a toxic one.

My then-girlfriend, now my wife, and our little five-month-old “tiger” were quickly drawn into the idea of MeWe. When we met, I was in a phase of distancing myself from toxic people and focusing on protecting and maintaining relationships with those who truly mattered to me. One of those people was my wife.

We moved all our communication to MeWe. I started sharing our first beautiful moments together—as friends at first—through emotional photo albums. At the same time, I felt so comfortable with MeWe that it inspired me to rekindle my love for my hometown. I began creating posts about my city, Serres, Greece where I was born, live, work, and love.

Over time, I found amazing people through MeWe. Even when we disagree on ideas, there’s mutual respect and privacy. To this day, I stay connected with people I’ve never met in person but who have become a part of my daily life, exchanging wonderful ideas.

My wife and I also started a unique blog, Unplug & Thrive, to share our beautiful moments and creative passions with our MeWe friends.
